The band is also doing a short farewell tour at the beginning of next year. Watch the trailer below to see the dates and pre-order your tickets here.
So last Friday I went to good old Emo’s Austin to see one of my favorite bands since high school along with a couple of other bands. Thursday was who I came to see, and I had been in love with them since the “emo” days of high school.
I went with a couple of friends and we got there pretty late. We were only there for a few minutes before the first band, A Skylit Drive, came on. I was fairly new to them, only having heard of the band last year. I’m not really a fan of their music. Their songs just kinda melted into each other and there wasn’t that much band-to-crowd interaction. The lead singer was pretty hot, but I wouldn’t pay to see them again.
Animals As Leaders was up next. Never heard of them, and again, I was kind of disappointed. Their music didn’t have vocals, but it was pretty good. Reminded me of some epic movie. It focused on peculiar rhythms and chords and would be great if you wanted to listen to it at home or something, but it just left you standing there. All you could really do to it was bob your head. Or go completely crazy and thrash around like some guys behind us. I don’t really like music without vocals though.
And then Thursday came on. I don’t wanna sound biased but they were pretty frickin’ awesome. They opened up the show with I wanna say “Understanding In A Car Crash” and that just threw the crowd into a frenzy. There’s nothing like screaming the lyrics to one of your favorite songs to the actual singer. That feeling is one of the best in my opinion. They played their whole Full Collapse album in honor of it’s 10th anniversary and though I was kind of bummed I didn’t get to hear any other songs, it was definitely pretty great. The band’s energy was awesome, there was tons of interaction between the band and crowd, and the vocals were amazing. Probably one of the top 3 shows I’ve been to.
I felt pretty drained from Thursday cause the crowd was relentless, so I scurried over to the sidelines to watch Underoath. I didn’t know any of their music so this band really isn’t my forte, buuuuut…they had a pretty cool light show and the crowd loved them. It was pretty cool to see their fans scream out all their lyrics and reach out to the band.
Overall it was a sweet concert. I’d def recommend going to see ‘em on this tour if you can.
